Integrated Publishing Toolkit(IPT)

free and open access to biodiversity data

BID IPT

The Integrated Publishing Toolkit (IPT) is a free open source software tool written in Java that is used to publish and share biodiversity datasets through the GBIF network.

This cloud-hosted IPT installation is provided as an additional facility to enable projects within the the Biodiversity Information for Development (BID) programme to publish datasets while there is no suitable alternative hosting solution available. Where regional or other hosting centers exist, those should be given preference. Before applying for credentials for use of this IPT, please ensure that your institution is registered with GBIF as a data publisher as well as endorsed by a GBIF Participant node. You can then apply for the necessary access rights to the IPT by sending an email to GBIF Helpdesk. Remember to supply your project identifier (eg. BID-AF2015-0582-SMA), as well as the name and GBIF UUID of your institution as registered with GBIF and the person who should be getting access to the IPT installation.

Through these steps, you will get the necessary permissions to publish datasets registered against your institution. Please be aware that this hosted IPT does not come with any kind of support services beyond basic technical maintenance. You may, however, explore the possibility to liase with other mentors in the GBIF network who might be able to provide more guidance.
