Description
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 290 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Project Data
The Paloemeu River from the Paloemeu airstrip at the mouth was followed upstream to the Kasikasima Mountain to look at possibilities and difficulties to use the route for eco-tourism. During the exploration an few animals were collected.
| Title | Exploring a new eco-tourist route to Kasikasima Mountain |
|---|---|
| Identifier | BID-CA2016-0006-REG |
| Funding | METS Travel and Tours |
| Study Area Description | The Kasikasima Mountain is an inselberg (granite outcropping) with a height of and surrounded by pristine tropical rainforest. Habitats: clear water river with many rapids, small brooklets, rock savanna vegetation on inselberg and tropical rainforest. |
| Design Description | Sampling took place during exploration for new eco-tourism trails and also around the camp site. Predominantly active sampling was used. |

Sampling Methods
The sampling methods were specific to the taxonomic groups and included transect walks, hand sampling and using insect traps and active insect collecting.
| Study Extent | The Paloemeu area was sampled once from the mouth of the Paloemeu River upstream to the KasiKasima River. |
|---|---|
| Quality Control | In some cases the identification of specimens was rechecked by foreign experts. |
Method step description:
- 1. The amphibians and reptiles were collected using line transects during day time surveys. Insects were collected using various methods (passive sampling, active sampling). 2. The specimens were labeled in the field and after identification a collection number was assigned to each specimen. 3. The specimens were first preserved in formaldehyde and then transferred into 70% Ethanol. Insects were dried and pinnen. 4. All specimens were identified to species using literature and identification keys.
