Description
The Vertebrates New Collection After 1987 data set contains miscellaneous vertebrate specimens, not linked to a special expedition or study. These specimens were collected all over Suriname. Most species were amphibians collected by Paul Ouboter.
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 147 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Sampling Methods
This data was predominantly collected during research activities.
Study Extent | The data was collected from many areas in Suriname from 1987 till present. |

Quality Control | In some cases the identification of specimens was rechecked by foreign experts. |
Method step description:
- 1. Amphibians and reptiles were collected using line transects during night and day surveys and were collected by hand when encountered. 2. The specimens were labeled in the field and after identification a collection number was assigned to each specimen. 3. In some cases tissue samples were collected for DNA analysis. 4. The specimens were first preserved in formaldehyde and then transferred into 70% Ethanol. 5. All specimens were identified to species level using literature and keys.
