最新版本 由 University of Belize Environmental Research Institute 發佈於 Jan 31, 2019 University of Belize Environmental Research Institute

Bird banding data collected at a protected area in southern Belize, Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, using the Monitoreo de Sobrevivencia Invernal (MoSI - Monitoring Overwintering Survival) protocol developed by The Institute for Bird Populations (IBP). Data was collected from December 2016 to March 2017.

Data Records

The data in this 出現紀錄 resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 241 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

計畫資料

This project aims to compile and analyze several large existing bird datasets of Belize. The University of Belize Environmental Research Institute will coordinate the mobilization of Belize's existing un-compiled bird data through eBird and GBIF network. This will be done in collaboration with two main partners: the Forest Department, regulatory agency responsible for enforcing policies and regulations for sustainable management of its natural resources and Belize Audubon Society (BAS), a non-governmental organization that co-manages seven protected areas in Belize.

研究區域描述 Data for this project was collected at several locations in Belize including protected areas and private land. For this particular dataset, data was collected at the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary which is a protected area located in the southern part of the country that is co-managed by BAS.
研究設計描述 Partners/stakeholders were contacted to assist in contributing digitized and un-digitized bird data towards this project. Data Sharing Agreements were signed between the UB ERI and partners before data was utilized and submitted. Data was collected jointly by UB ERI and BAS.

取樣方法

The data was collected following the MoSI protocol in which 16 mist-nets are set up at a station covering approximately 9 hectares. The station is operated for three days every month from November to March. Mist-nets are opened at sunrise and checked every half hour for a total of six hours per day. Birds caught in the nets are safely extracted and taken back to a processing station where they are identified to the species level. The data is also collected on fat, age, sex, weight etc. All resident and migrant songbirds captured in the nets are banded except for hummingbirds.

研究範圍 Data was collected at Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary in Belize from November 2016 to March 2017.
品質控管 The station is operated by experienced and certified bird banders and assistants. Ageing and sexing resources and materials are used to properly age and sex birds and photos are taken for references.

方法步驟描述:

  1. The data was collected using the MoSI protocol.

額外的元數據

目的 This dataset was developed based on MoSI banding data collected at Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary as part of long term bird monitoring in Belize. The dataset includes data on both resident birds of Belize and migrants. Having data on birds in Belize will allow information to be generated on abundance, distribution, diversity etc.
維護說明 The maintenance frequency is not planned.
