Description

This dataset provides a entomological record of the spatial and temporal distribution of Culex mosquito species across various ecological zones of Ghana between 2017 and 2025. Culex mosquitoes are important vectors of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) such as lymphatic filariasis and emerging arboviruses like West Nile virus and Japanese encephalitis. This dataset supports vector surveillance, ecological risk assessments, and integrated vector management strategies.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 223 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Versions

The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Additional Metadata

Purpose The dataset aims to track the distribution and ecology of Culex mosquitoes to support targeted vector control and filariasis elimination efforts in Ghana. It also informs public health risk assessments by identifying potential hotspots for Culex-borne diseases in relation to urbanization, environmental change, and human exposure.
