Description
Compilation of euphausiids species for the Greater Antilles (Hispaniola, Cuba, Jamaica and Puerto Rico) based on references from plankton collections in the Western Atlantic and the Caribbean Sea (Owre (Michael) and Foyo, 1972; Michael and Foyo, 1976).
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 146 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Project Data
The project 'Hispabiota Marina', is a long-term project to create the first inventory of the marine biota of Hispaniola, with nearly 3,000 species compiled.
Title | Hispabiota Marina |
---|---|
Study Area Description | EEZs of Dominican Republic, Haiti (Hispaniola), Cuba, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico, in the Caribbean Sea and the Western Atlantic Ocean. |
Sampling Methods
Net plankton samplings in horizontal and vertical tows at several levels in the water column from the surface.
Study Extent | Between January 1966 and November 1969 |

Method step description:
- This dataset corresponds to a compilation of occurrences from two literature sources: Owre (Michael) and Foyo (1972) and Michael and Foyo (1976).
- The data belongs to plankton samples collected from the EEZs of Haiti, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico, during 8 cruises of the B/I John Elliott Pillsbury where 45 stations were sampled. Hydrographic data were also collected along with plankton samples. Samples were obtained with net plankton in horizontal and vertical tows at several levels in the water column from the surface to a depth near the bottom (7500 m maximum depth).
