Descrição

Public records of fauna specimens and observations from La Selva forest, a sub-mediterranean environment near Siena, central Italy, curated by Fondazione Ethoikos, Radicondoli. The specimen collection is housed at the Corbaiola Field Station. New fauna specimens are continuously added to the collection. The majority of specimens consist of prepared insect specimens.

Marco Di Domenico (2009-2011) and Nicholas Moray Williams (2011- ), Fondazione Ethoikos have been responsible for collection, preparation and identification at different taxonomic level of most specimens, and the drawing up of the present fauna checklist. This is a continuing activity.

All specimen/observation data in this dataset are managed at Fondazione Ethoikos in a customized version of the Mantis database application developed by Piotr Naskrecki.
Propósito Since 2010 The Ethoikos Biodiversity Database Project aims to document and monitor the fauna within La Selva forest in Radicondoli (SI), to create a comprehensive checklist and establish a scientific collection. The Fauna Checklist currently includes 1211 species.
