            <abstract>
                <para>The geo-referenced data from the Balkans are scarce, although much is to be discovered and learned about the rich biodiversity there. This project will mobilise a minimum of 500,000 biodiversity records from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina – a region of immense significance for Europe’s biodiversity. The project will encourage data collection, digitisation, standardisation and publication. Hands-on training sessions will be provided to local database managers and researchers to facilitate data publication in GBIF. By the end of the project, we anticipate doubling the amount of published data from Serbia in GBIF.

Additionally, HabiProt Serbia who maintains the Alciphron database, commits to establishing a connection for direct upload to GBIF ensuring continuous and seamless sharing of biodiversity data beyond the project’s timeframe.</para>
