Descrição

Plant species recorded during field surveys in four localities trails in the southern Nilgiris, India. The localities were surveyed on foot and all species of trees and notable shrubs and herbs were recorded. The first locality was in the Manar estate region, a second in Cammandu Shola Reserved Forest, a third in Thaishola, and the fourth trail was in the Pillur region (Melur Slopes Reserved Forest, Coimbatore Division), all within the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, Tamil Nadu, India.

Descrição da Área de Estudo The study was carried out within the southern part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve in and around the town of Kolakamby and Craigmore estates, including Melur Slopes Reserved Forest, Coimbatore Division, in the Western Ghats of Tamil Nadu, India. Four localities were surveyed and they spanned a wide elevation range from c.500 m to c. 2200 m above sea level.
Descrição do Design The species identity of all trees and botanically notable shrub and herb species in the four localities were recorded and identified by the observers.

Métodos de Amostragem

Between January and September 2025, four localities spanning a wide range of forest types were surveyed on foot multiple times by observers. All tree species and notable shrubs and herbs were recorded on an opportunistic basis.

Área de Estudo The study was carried out within the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, Tamil Nadu, India, mainly in areas around Kolakamby and in Thaishola area.
Controle de Qualidade Trees were directly identified in the field or herbarium specimens collected to identify using field guides cited in identification references. Taxa that could not be identified to species were identified to Genus or Family, or occasionally higher taxa. Species names were updated to GBIF taxonomy using the species name matching tool.

  1. Data from multiple localities were combined and R was used to prepare the data in CSV files according to the GBIF Darwin Core format.
