Descrição

Plant species were recorded with 70 nested plots at the centre of 70 1-ha grids in the Manar estate region in the southern Nilgiris, India. At the scale of each of the 1-ha grids, the presence or absence of three invasive species, viz. Lantana camara, Chromolaena odorata, and Solanum mauritianum, were recorded. At the centroid of each grid, adult trees trees (>=30 cm girth) were enumerated (taxonomic identity, girth and height) within a 20x20 m plot. At the centre of the 20x20 m plot, regenerating seedlings (>50 cm height and GBH <= 3.1cm (1 cm DBH)) and saplings (>=3.1 GBH to 30 cm GBH) were identified and counted within a 5x5 m plot. Trees that overtopped the 5x5m plot but were different from the individuals or species recorded in the 20x20m plot that circumscribed the 5x5m plot, were also recorded.

Plant species were recorded with 70 nested plots at the centre of 70 1-ha grids in the Manar estate region in the southern Nilgiris, India. At the scale of each of the 1-ha grids, the presence or absence of three invasive species, viz. Lantana camara, Chromolaena odorata and Solanum mauritianum, was recorded. Trees that overtopped the 5x5m plot but were different from the individuals or species recorded in the 20x20m plot that circumambulated the 5x5m plot, were also recorded.

Área de Estudo The study was carried out within the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, Tamil Nadu, India, mainly in areas around Kolakamby and in Thaishola area.
Controle de Qualidade Trees were directly identified in the field or herbarium specimens collected to identify using field guides cited in identification references. Taxa that could not be identified to species were identified to Genus or Family, or occasionally higher taxa. Species names were updated to GBIF taxonomy using the species name matching tool.

Descrição dos passos do método:

  1. Data from multiple plot types were combined and R was used to prepare the data in CSV files according to the GBIF Darwin Core format.
