<purpose>This dataset presents new records of 49 species of herpetofauna (16 amphibians and 33 reptiles) from the peat swamp, freshwater swamp, and mixed swamp forests in the Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary, Agusan del Sur, Philippines.</purpose>
<introduction><para>The only comprehensive inventory of the herpetological diversity in the Agusan Basin was conducted by E.H. Taylor more than a century ago. That dataset covered the historical basis of biodiversity in the area, with sites encompassing the current protected area of the Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary. A few scattered inventories were previously conducted in the area (Ibañez and Bastian 2004; Almeria and Nuñeza 2013; Ngilangil et al. 2014; Sularte et al. 2015; Relox and Camino 2018; Gamalinda et al 2024). Using the historical dataset from Taylor (1920) and Taylor (1975), the few scattered inventories, and our dataset from our herpetological inventories (2008, 2019–2022), we comprehensively put together this dataset to provide the most up-to-date information on the herpetological diversity of Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary. The dataset contains the latest taxonomic nomenclatures, the occurrence records of invasive alien and introduced species, and rediscovered species. This dataset will be useful in informing management decisions and guiding biologically conservation action plans for long-term protection initiatives in the Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary.</para></introduction>
<gettingStarted>This dataset has one data file significantly containing a species list with the associated habitat types occupied by each species and dates of collection.</gettingStarted>
