<para>This dataset consists of Dung beetle (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae) specimens collected from a dung beetle community assessment project in Yunnan Province, China. The project includes dung beetles collected using standard baited pitfall traps (baited with ~ 25g of human feces) from Bubeng (rainforest and rubber plantation) during 03-22 May 2020 (dry season) and 01-16 August 2021 (rainy season). Sampling was conducted in the 20-hectare CTFS plot and the adjacent rubber plantation in Bubeng, Xishuangbanna. We defined five 1-hectare plots in the plot and deployed a single baited pitfall trap in the middle. The plots were distanced at least 200m and a maximum of 300m. The collection cup in the pitfall trap was filled with 200 ml of propylene glycol and 50 ml of 99% ethanol as the preservative solution. All traps were left for 48 hours before beetle collection. Dung beetle community data acquired through this project was aimed to go beyond reporting occurrence by understanding beetle responses for tropical forests' conversation with rubber plantations.</para>
