<abstract>
<para>This dataset consists of Dung beetle (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae) specimens collected from a dung beetle community assessment project in Yunnan Province, China. The project includes dung beetles collected using standard baited pitfall traps (baited with ~ 25g of human feces) from Bubeng (rainforest and rubber plantation) from 25 March 02 April 2021 (dry season) and 11-30 September 2021 (rainy season). Sampling was conducted in the tropical forest in Menglun and the adjacent rubber plantation Xishuangbanna. We defined a 20-hectare plot first. Then within the 20-hectare plot, five 1-hectare plots defined and deployed a single baited pitfall trap in the middle. The plots were distanced at least 200m and a maximum of 300m. The collection cup in the pitfall trap was filled with 200 ml of propylene glycol and 50 ml of 99% ethanol as the preservative solution. All traps were left for 48 hours prior to beetle collection. Dung beetle community data acquired through this project was aimed to go beyond reporting occurrence by understanding beetle responses for tropical forests' conversation with rubber plantations.</para>
